Louie's Master of Fine Arts Thesis Exhibition Now Open

My MFA (Master of Fine Arts) thesis exhibition is now open until the 19th of September. It is in the mezzanine gallery on the second floor of the Nickle Galleries at the University of Calgary.

The gallery hours until the end of August are Monday to Friday 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. These hours expand in September with 9:00 am to 8:00 pm on Thursdays and 11:00 am to 4:00 pm on Saturdays.

A 9-minute walk from the University C-Train station.

Worldwide, about 1.19 million people die in road-traffic crashes each year, roughly 3,260 people per day. More than half of those killed are pedestrians, cyclists or motorcyclists.

The gallery is inside the Taylor Family Digital Library (TFDL) in the centre of the main UCalgary campus.

There are three opportunities to see the exhibition as an “event” with other folks there.

  • Nickle @ Noon on the 10th of September at 12:00 pm where I will be speaking about the work and giving a tour.

  • Closing-ish reception on the 10th of September 5:00 to 8:00 pm (note: there will be food)

I have 19 pieces in the show, with a few sculptural works including this copper-clad thermal printer with a fancy button you can press when you’re there!  

My work is alongside MFA colleagues, Cerys Davies with her photographic collages, and Damilare Idowu’s large scale oil paintings.

The 1st floor of the Nickle Galleries has Her Own Way: A Selection of Women Artists in the Nickle Collection on display, and next to the MFA exhibition is Napoleon: Art, Money and War.
